Turn it Up!
At 211 degrees water is extremely hot. It just takes one more degree to make it boil.
Boiling water produces steam. Steam can power an engine. Turning it up is all about heart power. It’s the passion and fire to do “One More”. Turning it up is a decision not a feeling. “I just do not feel it today, or that makes me feel offended.” Offenses will come so turn up your character and don’t complain, don’t even respond. (On the cross Jesus said, “Father forgive them, they don’t know what they’re doing”) Steph Curry from Golden State on Sunday night… turned it up! He took his game to another level. They said it was an MVP performance. In order to turn it up your heart has to tell your body “no”. (As man thinks in his heart so he is).
It says no to fear, no to the pain of lung burn and lactate buildup in your system. The will and determination to go one “MO”! One more rep, one more play, one more stroke in the pool, one more set… it’s not about how you feel…it’s a decision! Just like love is not a feeling but a decision. We think, “I don’t want to be kind or cover my teammate or player; I want to take the selfie because it makes me feel good”. Say no to those thoughts… Turn it up and practice being selfless. Be kind, honor others and cover those in need.
There is a story about a guy visiting Rome who asked for a diet Coke with a slice of lime. The waitress said, "We don’t have any lime," and brought him the diet Coke. A few minutes later she set three perfect lime slices in front of him. The guy said, "I thought you didn’t have any limes?" The waitress said, "We didn’t, so I decided to go next store and buy one." (Turn it up!)
When the heat comes, we can choose to shrink back or choose be a person of character and press into the adversity. All hard work leads to profit and mere talk leads to poverty. I love the story about a valiant man by the name of Benaiah who went down into a pit and killed a lion on a snowy day. Talk about turning it up! Chasing a lion…then jumping in a pit to kill the lion with a spear. Most would play it safe and not jump into that pit. They would say, “I feel good right here.”
MVP’s don’t play it safe. Be that MVP, the Most Valuable Person! When you’re under pressure Turn Up your character, as a mirror reflects a face so a person’s heart reflects the person. Believe, Think, Love and Work… when crunch time comes… TURN IT UP!
Remember …. Love Never Fails
